Google offers a completely different approach, called SustainedSustained Performance Mode.

Sustained Performance Mode function allows you to customize the application to their performance and provide a more “predictable” and “constant level” performance on different devices. This is also achieved by a device capable of using the API, to provide information on how they perform a particular task.

Sustained Performance Mode will be available in the Android Developer’s Preview 3, so that application developers can begin configuring your applications with new functions. However, the documentation states that the API is available only in the assembly for the Nexus 6P, although it is likely that the feature will be available for all devices that will receive the update to Android N.
