The other day issledovatelkaya firm IDC placed the forecast that global growth will slow to smartphones 9.8% this year. Now we have some additional forecasts to IDC, namely, how it will affect the operating systems.
Researchers from IDC found that by the end of 2015 will be shipped 1.16 billion Android smartphones with an increase of 9.5% compared to 2014. This will give the company’s Android whopping 81.2% of the global smartphone market.
Apple will release the iPhone on sale 226 million this year, giving the company 15.8% market share. More importantly, this represents an increase of 17.3% compared to last year. The big question is whether the company will be able to maintain this momentum with the new iPhone 7.
According to IDC, 31.3 million units of Windows Phone will be delivered in 2015. This will give the company Microsoft 2.2% of the global smartphone market share. In annual terms, the number of shipments for Windows Phone will be reduced by 10.2%.
The research firm also decided to predict the dynamics of the market development up to 2019, and it is estimated that in 2019 will be shipped 1.54 billion Android-smartphone, which will be 82.6% of the global smartphone market. Year after year, the growth will drop to 4.8%.
IDC expects annual growth of Apple will be 6.5% for the same period of time. As for Windows, the operating system in 2019 will occupy 2.3% of the market. However, in 2019 Microsoft’s operating system may have a growth rate of 11.4%.
