In 2013, Google Drive has provided one of the biggest advantages of Microsoft Office: offline access and editing. If this feature is enabled, documents, slides, presentations were available for offline editing. Today’s update will allow users to select specific files to store and edit them without an internet connection.
Earlier, autonomous access to Google Drive upload and store all documents, spreadsheets, and presentations offline. With today’s update, Chrome desktop version, users will be able to select individual files to store offline.
To make the file available offline, users should go to the folder with the specific document, spreadsheet or presentation, and switch the mode in the file menu. Once the file is downloaded in the background, and users will have full access to the file and its changes will be synchronized when you reconnect.
New offline mode greatly improve the use of files, because some users do not have enough space to store everything. Currently, individual offline access is only available for Google Apps customers that have activated this function, administrators.
