In the last quarter, the number of tablet shipments totaled 48.7 million and is by 12.6% less than last year. Apple has fixed the iPad sales decline of 19.7% over the last year. As it became known, the Apple owns 20.3% of the world market of tablet computers.
Apple is not the only big name in the industry, whose shipments declined tablets. For Samsung there is a decrease by 17.1%. In third place in the reporting period the company is Lenovo, whose delivery tablets really decreased by 0.9%. The fourth place is occupied by Acer, whose shipments declined by 43.4%. Finally, in the fifth place with a huge decrease of 147.9% is Huawei.
Part of the sales plates of the problem is that unlike smartphones, users do not rush to update the device every two years. According to Ryan Reith program director to IDC, the average tablet owner uses his device during the four years.
