Law of self-cars will be in July

This week, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) held a public hearing in order to convey information to the general public, before they sit down to write the guidelines for state governments, automakers and technology companies that create self-guided vehicles. There will be two hearings. These guidelines will be established in July this year.

Back in January, when the automotive industry was assembled in Detroit at the annual North American International Auto Show, the Minister of the Department of Transport, Anthony Fox, announced that they will work on policy guidelines for autonomous driving vehicles, to introduce them into law.

Now, however, automakers trade association warned that the timetable avtobezopasnosti regulators is too aggressive and it takes more time for consideration of all aspects. The Administration should take into account the fact that there are already a number of cars on the road with the autonomous functions. The most common of them, Tesla Model S, Model X and the upcoming Model 3, which also affects the decision-making time.

Self-cars were a big topic for many years, is now covering the decade. But only recently has it really become a reality. With Google, having autonomous machines in four states, along with Ford and General Motors, which tested its technology in Michigan, the appearance of such devices is not far off, so it all depends only from regulators.
