It seems, the LG is not going to stop the production of flexible displays after the LG G Flex 2, because today the company issued a press release announcing that it will invest nearly a billion dollars in the production of the 6th generation of flexible the OLED-displays.
«These investments will help LG Display to become a pioneer in the development of technologies such as flexible displays and large displays for cars. The main feature of flexible OLED-display is to use plastic substrates instead of glass as in conventional OLED-displays. Application of this technology is spreading not only among smart phones, and handheld devices, and automotive displays».
Bringing such a large investment does not seem surprising, given that according to rumors, Apple is going to use a flexible display in one of its future devices. Last month, one of the Korean resources stated the following:
«It is likely that the first iPhone with a flexible display can be released in 2018 year, as Apple already negotiating with major suppliers of these products».
