MediaTek plans to increase the supply of chipsets in 2016

According to MediaTek senior director of sales and emerging markets, Arthur Wang, probably, India will be one of the most important markets for the company in the foreseeable future. He also said the company expects to increase sales in India.

The company MediaTek has come a long way since its inception as a small chip-maker for consumer electronics products in the late 90s. Over the past few years, mainly due to the boom of smartphones in countries such as China, the company has experienced incredible growth. Now the manufacturer is planning to increase its presence in other markets.

According to MediaTek senior director of sales and emerging markets, Arthur Wang, probably, India will be one of the most important markets for the company in the foreseeable future. He also said the company expects to increase sales in India.

Arthur Wang said that in 2015 the company shipped 400 million chipsets for smartphones and over 33 million of them were shipped to India. This year the company expects India posposobstvovut increase by 10%, mainly due to the introduction of 4G LTE networks. Only 160 million chips MediaTek supplied with LTE-enabled, while others supported only 3G.

Another important factor for optimism MediaTek, is the introduction of technology called VoLTE. All major carriers of the country, Airtel, Vodafone and Idea, already offer LTE connectivity in several hundred cities across India, but there are several hundred, which now have to settle for a slower, obsolete technologies.
