Many expect the announcement of Qualcomm’s flagship processor after the trouble with the Snapdragon 810. This week, Qualcomm has finally started officially talk about the upcoming Snapdragon 820. However, the company did not disclose the details, however, already introduced a graphics accelerator Adreno 530, which will be installed in unannounced chipset.
As the name implies, the Adreno 530 is representative of a new series of graphic
processors and it is the most productive in the range. Available Qualcomm also has Adreno 510, which will come with a Snapdragon processor 618 and 620.
Qualcomm has said that Adreno 530 boasts a 40 percent improvement in graphics performance compared with Adreno 430. At the same time, GPU is able to reduce energy consumption by 40%. These results may be a credit to transition to 14nm or 16nm FinFET process technology.
Another innovation is the ISP (Image Signal Processor). The function will improve the smoothness of the zoom operation and expedite the processing of pixels.
Qualcomm has also introduced a new feature called “Standalone GPU Power Manager»Which can increase energy savings when idle.
Devices based on Snapdragon 820 will be available in 1H 2016.
