Just a couple of days after Qualcomm officially announced Snapdragon 820 processor, the Samsung company released its own flagship chipset, Samsung Exynos 8890 processor, which will equip the next leader of the company in 2016.
The chip Exynos 8890 will be built on the same 14nm process technology FinFET, as the Snapdragon 820. However, unlike the Snapdragon 820, the new Exynos chip has eight cores, four custom Mongoose core clocked at 2.3 GHz quad-core Cortex-A53, which run on frequency of 1.56 GHz.
What to GPU, for better performance in the graphics accelerator integrated processor Mali-T880, Kirin as in 950, but no MP12 and MP4, i.e. graphics processor 12 has cores. Samsung claims that the new Exynos 8890 is 30% faster than the previous generation and up to 10% more energy efficient.
SoC supports LTE cat network. 12 and 13, which promises download speeds of up to 600 Mpbs.
Eight-solution from Samsung looks attractive quad-core Snapdragon 820 and eight-Kirin 950. But we have to wait to see the performance of each processor in real life before making any decisions.
