Samsung – it is without doubt one of the most prominent chip manufacturers in the world and about a week ago, the company was able to commit the unthinkable in the production of DRAM modules for smartphones, failing to produce a module on 10-nm process, erasing its competitors in the dust. And now the South Korean giant has announced the launch of mass production of the first 10-nm 8 GB DDR4 DRAM chip industry.
In early 2014, Samsung Electronics has been the world’s first manufacturer of chips on 20-nm process technology, and now, two years later, the same company is ready to take a big step forward in the production of chip technology, becoming the first DRAM memory manufacturer that switched to 10 nm process technology.
This is a big step not only in the industry but also for the company, because the company had to overcome a lot of production problems associated with scaling DRAM. When switching to the 10-nm node, Samsung managed to improve chip performance than the 20-nm process technology for more than 30%.
According to the company, the 10-nm DRAM upscale provide efficiency in the IT-system, thus become the new engine of growth in the global memory industry.
