In addition to the production of smartphones, the Samsung Company is also the manufacturer of the set of components, including camera module, panel displays, chip RAM and CPU. And after a runaway success in the market of memory modules, apparently, technology giant decided to advance in the segment of mobile processors.
Samsung Semiconductor Executives held a special closed event to meet new potential clients in Silicon Valley. The reason for the event was the announcement of plans for a new and more affordable 14-nm manufacturing process.
But more interesting is that the senior director of the company also said that the company is preparing to release second-generation 10-nanometer technology manufacturing process to be put in place later this year. The new 10-nm process will offer a 10% performance improvement compared to the previous generation.
It seems that the battle for the top spot in the mobile semiconductor sector is heating up. TMSC, is rumored to have received an order to manufacture Apple’s new chip A10, but this may change if Samsung plans for the second-generation 10-nm process technology will become a reality.
Samsung has managed to wrest the Snapdragon 820 chip production at TMSC, so it’s possible that Samsung will leave its competitor without one more customer.
