Xiaomi developing its own processor

Chip to be produced using conventional ARM-cores, as well as do Samsung. However, even though other handset manufacturers release their flagship solutions, Xiaomi focused on mid-range devices.

Rumors that Xiaomi plans to start building its own processor, have been circulating for a long time. Today it became known that the company plans to introduce self-developed chipset that will be called Rifle, at an event in May. Information was provided by Korea Times partner company Xiaomi.

Korea Times claims that the smartphone industry is shifting toward low-end models, which offer a lower cost, but at the same time quite interesting features – a trend that we have seen over the last year.

This shift suggests that demand for inexpensive processors will increase and will remain stable in the coming years, which means that not only Xiaomi, but Lenovo, ZTE, and LG is already eyeing this category of products in the hope to earn.
