February 24th the company announced its flagship Xiaomi Mi5 – an impressive device with three different versions. For users of the services offered 5.15-inch display with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels, Snapdragon processor 820 and many other attractive specifications.
As it turned out, the information about the global launch of the smartphone may have been exaggerated. In a recent interview, Hugo Barra announced that Xiaomi is planning to release the device only in markets with which they are already familiar. He confirmed that while Xiaomi is considering the prospect on drugik markets, but «it is too early to make any statements».
Barr continued, that he is not withholding information, he honestly does not know how things will pan out in the future. He wants Xiaomi products have become officially available in the US and Europe, but this is just a wish. However, Barr hopes that the event in Barcelona will demonstrate the brand on an international level.
Later this year Mi5 must get to the main markets – China, India, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines, and possibly Brazil. We can see it in even more markets after that, but now it’s pretty unlikely. It seems that the rest of the world remains to rely on independent import.
